GitHub Copilot workshop FAQ: cost, format and results
Answers to the questions organisations ask before booking GitHub Copilot training on their own codebase.
What is a GitHub Copilot workshop?
A GitHub Copilot workshop is hands-on training in which your team applies GitHub Copilot to its own codebase, rather than to a demo project.
GitHub Copilot Workshop is delivered by Harness Institute. It is not operated or endorsed by GitHub.
What will our team be able to do after the GitHub Copilot training?
- Apply Copilot agent mode in the editor to real tasks.
- Assign issues to the Copilot coding agent and review the results.
- Maintain shared custom instructions in .github/copilot-instructions.md.
- Use Copilot code review as a first pass, not a final check.
- Leave with an adoption plan for the next sprint.
How much does GitHub Copilot training cost?
The price of a workshop depends on the number of participants, the number of days and the format.
- Standard format: two days, ten to thirty participants.
- Minimum engagement: eight participants.
- Fewer than eight people? Join a cohort.
- The first month of Harness Pulse is included.
- Travel and venue are quoted separately.
After a 30-minute call you receive a written proposal with the scope, the schedule and the price. You can also send a message with your team size and budget.
Is the training delivered on our own codebase?
Yes. All exercises take place in your repositories and with your approved tools, under NDA where required. Code and data remain within your environment.
How long is the training and how many participants can attend?
- Duration: two days as standard, one day for a narrower scope.
- Group size: ten to thirty participants, with a minimum of eight.
- Fewer than eight people? Join a cohort.
- Larger organisations are trained in multiple groups of up to thirty.
Which delivery formats are available?
- Onsite: at your offices, within your own environment.
- Offsite: at an external venue, away from day-to-day work.
- Remote: live sessions via Zoom for distributed teams.
All formats are delivered by the same trainers with the same hands-on exercises.
Is prior experience with GitHub Copilot required?
No. Most organisations have licences and a few early adopters but no shared way of working. The programme establishes a common method across the team, regardless of starting level.
Can product managers and designers participate?
Yes. Mixed groups are recommended. Product and design participants learn to specify work that GitHub Copilot can execute and to assess the output; engineers learn to delegate and review.
Is this a GitHub Copilot workshop for developers or for the whole team?
Both. Developers work hands-on in the editor and on pull requests. Product and design participants learn to write issues the Copilot coding agent can execute.
Who delivers the training?
Every workshop is delivered by the two founders of Harness Institute:
- Rogier Muller, CTO at BlueMonks Group, who runs coding agents in production daily.
- Vasilis Tsolis, partner at Cognitiv+, who advises regulated organisations on AI adoption.
Together they hold official ambassador roles for OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceXAI (formerly Cursor), and n8n. GitHub Copilot Workshop is independent training and is not operated or endorsed by GitHub.
Is the training suitable for regulated organisations?
Yes. Both founders have a background in regulated sectors, including financial services, compliance and legal.
- Delivery takes place under NDA, within your environment and with tools you have already approved.
- Approval responsibilities are documented, so your audit trail remains intact.
What support is available after the workshop?
Rules and checklists are committed to your repository, so the way of working is retained after delivery.
The first month of Harness Pulse is included: a shared Slack or Teams channel with both founders, a briefing every two weeks and a two-hour live session each month. After that month you decide whether to continue.
Is GitHub Copilot training available for individual developers?
Yes, through the live cohort: four live sessions with a maximum of ten participants, in two tiers: Simple and Applied. The cohort is delivered in Claude Code.
Which AI coding tool should our team be trained on?
We recommend the tool your organisation already licenses. The method applies to every major tool. In addition to githubworkshop.com, Harness Institute operates a dedicated workshop site per tool: claudeworkshop.com, cursorworkshop.com, codexworkshop.com, devinworkshop.com, gemini-workshop.com.
How do we arrange a workshop?
Schedule a 30-minute introductory call. We discuss your team, codebase and objectives, and follow up with proposed dates and a written proposal.
